Time for a change

I have been posting infrequently lately.  That is because I have been spending more time in other areas.  I have decided to try and start blogging about another subject.  So, I have just started Silver Gelatin.  It is starting out as a blog that will later on include a shop for those interested in purchasing some of the equipment that might be discussed in the blog.  I will still continue to post here, just not as frequently.  I still need a place to post all of my future vintage finds.  If you are interested, check out the new venture.  I'll still be checking in here every once in awhile.

What's up?

Since I have neglected to post anything in months I have also neglected to share any finds I might have come across suring this time period.  I decided to just give a couple of highlights.  This cute hand carved penguin is actually a mid-century piece.  I fell in love with him sitting on the shelf.  I think he will find a new home sitting on my livingroom bookcase in the future.

I also found this lovely Arabia Finel tea kettle.  I have a very neutral toned kitchen so I like to throw in a few colorful accessories every now and then to add a little pop of color.
So, no big purchases, just little add ons...but good add ons.

Merry Christmas!

Talk about neglect.  Months without a single post.  I thought I should at least post a picture of the holiday ornaments I made this year.  I only made the gnomes.  The mushrooms were given to me from a friend who had no idea she was receiving a gnome on that same day.  Serendipity.    The holiday season around here has not seemed like the holiday season at all.  It has been strangely warm and we have no snow at all.  In fact, we have had one of the cloudiest Decembers ever recorded.  Hardly any sunshine at all.  Not a recipe for a cheery holiday.  Sorry to bring the room down.  Let's get back to wishing you a very Merry Christmas!  Here is hoping it is snowy and cheery wherever you may be.   There are going to be some changes in the new year and  I will be sharing them in a couple of days.  (Clutch the pearls!)  Yes, I am going to have another post within the week!

Happy Chicago-ween

Add some snow to this video and you'll see what Halloween 2014 was like in Chicagoland.  The first snow on Halloween in 20 years.  Nobody will be seeing your costume because your Mom is going to make you wear a winter coat over it.

Shrooms

Roosevelt and I were walking in a forest preserve today when we stumbled upon these magic mushrooms.  These fungi were a very bright orange.  At first I thought that they were bright orange flowers until I got closer.  For a moment I also thought it was an abandoned deflated orange raft.  That is how bright the color was.  These mushrooms were HUGE too.  The heads were about five or six inches across.  Their size and color made me think that  if you ate one you were going to go down the rabbit hole and then you were going to die.

The camera phone does not pick up the vibrant orange at all.
