I could always sort buttons

One of the biggest items in need of organizing were all of my buttons. I have more buttons than one human should be allowed. A portion of them were divide by color and stored in notebooks, but that was before I accumulated many more without organizing them. So, for several evenings I have been sorting buttons as I watch television. I thought I should multi-task if I was going to let my brain turn to mush in front of the tube.
I have decided that if need be, I could always sort buttons for a living. I was actually much faster than I thought I would be and I found the work to be rather soothing. I had several large jars that were just a mixture in need of sorting. These were placed in glass jars by color.

These were then placed on a lazy Susan for easier access.

Buttons that were in pairs or greater numbers were then sewn onto cards.

Luckily, some of them were already on cards when I bought them at a rummage sale. All I needed to do was attach them to 4 x 5 cards.

I scored this 4 drawer faux bois card catalog on Craigslist from a museum that was moving to a larger location. As usual, I had no idea what I would use it for. I just knew I had to have it.
I also scored both of these 2 drawer metal card catalogs as well. My original thought was to spray paint them some fabulous color before using them. I still intend to paint them, but I need to put them into use now.

The finished cards will be sorted by color and type in the catalogs like so.

The large single buttons that I thought were extra special were sewn onto much smaller cards. They will be used on one of two Rolodex card holders for easy flipping.

That is all I have to report for now. I am still plugging away.

Totally brilliant idea using the Rolodex for the buttons!
