Inauguration Day!

It is inauguration day! Most people will probably post tasteful photos of our next president. I decided to take a different approach. Although we are both Chicagoans, I relate even more to our Hawaii connection. My relatives have a love of Spam and Spam musubi just like Obama. When the press followed him over to Hawaii and repeatedly mispronounced musubi there was no need to inform me about the Hawaiian love of Spam musubi. So, in honor of this incredible historic moment I created this softie of a large Spam musubi.

Hello there. Nice creation!

I don't think I've ever bought Spam as people around me would tell then very naive me back in college (in Madison, WI!) to stay away from it as you never know what's in it. Can you substitute it for other processed ham/meat? I would try Spam if it wasn't so darn expensive here.

Hi Ai!
Oh, you just made me shudder. I don't think you want to try Spam (especially if it is expensive in Japan). I am not sure if anyone really knows what is in it. You have too much great cuisine in Japan to waste your tastebuds on an American enigma.

i checked last night at a nearby grocery store just how much it was. it was like 5 bucks for a tiny can. now i'm getting too curious not to get one...

by the way, i just love how the hawaiians pronounce "hawaii." it's so cute.
