I'll have a Cuban...literally

I realize that I have been posting a lot about food. There is no particular reason for this other than the weather has turned nice and it has really given me the urge to get out and try some new stuff. The adventure this time was for Cuban sandwiches. I have never had a Cuban sandwich. I do, however love Cuban food. I think I could eat black beans and rice for the rest of my life...with a side of sweet plantains. Anyway, I decided to try the sandwiches at this place. It is relatively new. It opened in September.

It is a very cute, small place with reasonable prices. All of the people working there were incredibly nice. The entire experience was very welcoming and pleasant.

If the weather is nice you can pick a spot outside under an umbrella at one of the tables .

I had the pollo sandwich was very good. I am recommending that if you are visiting Chicago and happen to pass through the Hamlin Park neighborhood, you should definitely stop in and try this place. I do not think you will be disappointed.

You know I had to have something sweet. I was going to try the flan but instead I decided to have a side order of sweet plantains. Don't these look yummy? Believe me, they were. I also decided to try a Cafe Cubano. I think I might be hooked. I was going to go and get some Cafe Bustelo, but I do not think it is fair trade. I have actually stuck to my promise to buy only fair trade coffee. I have not been to Starbucks in years. I now only buy fair trade espresso and make it at home. This is all due to viewing Black Gold. If you have not seen this film, you should.

I digress. The reason for the title of this post was this guy that works at the Cafe. He came around to each table to ask how the food was. There was another guy who did the same. Anyway, after he had walked away from the table my Mom says (not too quietly) "That guy is nice looking!" Umm, yes. I was trying to not gawk. I asked my Mom, "Did you really think that I didn't notice?!" Don't have your mother in tow if you are trying to play it cool.

You thought he was nice looking, and you didn't flirt with him!?!

Hi Ai!
Oh, no. He was incredibly good looking, but there is a chance that he is actually the owner which means that he is married because the place is owned by a husband and wife. I won't even venture into that territory if there is a chance someone is married or attached.
