I'm Clean!

Basil Zucchini Soup

Over the past months I have not posted about any food other than fresh vegetables. Even though I wanted to post about yummy baked goods, etc. They were out of my life for the past month. I decided to try the Clean Program for a month. It is a 21 day detox program. This is in no way an infomercial for this program. I just wanted to post about my experience with this. First, you know how thrifty I try to be. This program has a kit for $350. I did not buy it and found that I did not need to. If you read the book (again, you can just check it out of the library to read it) you will see that the author informs you that you do not have to buy the kit or the supplements. You can do it all on your own without buying anything special. The reason I decided to try this out was that I have never had any allergies, but this year all of a sudden I was having terrible skin allergies. I had a very itchy and unattractive rash on several parts of my body for over a month. I did not want to take any prescriptions to try and get rid of it. I wanted to try a more holistic approach. So, I decided to try this. I have to say that it did an incredible job. I noticed changes in my rash within a week and at this point it is all but gone. Surprisingly, I did not find it difficult at all to adjust to this program. It is very easy to follow. I thought that I would be hungry since the morning and evening meals are liquid (soups, etc), but I never went hungry. The recipes that are provided in the book as well as some that I found online were really tasty. You can also adjust your own recipes by sticking to the rules of the elimination diet. The only physical side effects I felt were the first evening due to caffeine withdrawal. I usually have one espresso every morning and the first evening I had a headache, but that was it. If you are looking for a change in your health and eating habits I would recommend this program. You do not even have to follow the complete program. Just adopting a few of the ideas from the book can make a difference. I would have posted more food pictures, but I realized that they would mostly be very green and liquid. Although, there is a great grilled chicken quinoa salad recipe as well as a Thai veggie wrap recipe that was delish.

That looks like a fantastic idea. I would try it if I didn't have to stop drinking my coffee. Even the idea of quitting coffee stresses me out... But good for you!
