The kitchen is currently white with natural wood. I had e-mailed someone on Craigslist who was selling a bunch of lighting. There were 2 chandeliers in the bunch. They were not a bad price $15 and $25. I contacted them and was going to take a look at them this weekend. When I arrived, the one I wanted was just sold. It was really not meant to be because it had to be wired through the ceiling. I need one that will drape and hang. I don't want to have to hire the electrician to do the wiring. It turned out that the other chandelier was the same. I felt that it was a sign. It was not meant to be.

So, then I thought I would go to Home Depot and find some very cheap chandelier and paint that. Ummm, I guess I have not priced chandeliers lately. The cheapest was $79. That is too much to spend on something I am going to try and spray paint and may completely ruin. I also should not buy something brand new, but should try to recycle.

Still undaunted, I headed to lunch and to the Salvation Army.

I looked on the shelves where most of the lighting seemed to be found. Nothing. Then I trolled the clothing aisles looking at the top shelves of the clothing racks. There is was. All bunched up in a plastic bag in a pile of junk. It is brand new. There were some parts that were still in the original taped box.
The question is, what color shall I paint it? Red? Orange? Another bright color?

Excellent find as usual!
Will you need a special kind of paint to use on the metal?

the word in the blogosphere is that i can use the krylon spray paint for metal and i don't have to prime it. if i use a different paint i will have to prime it first.
